Jakobson's Hole
A four way intersection
the hole in the back of my mouth
often permits air to pass.
Sometimes the stream of passing air
is obstructed, may not leave my throat :
A misfortune, if on occasion
the air ignores the stop sign
and plays deaf to my uvular instructions:
types of sound and words will be produced.
My throat utters then something
all too easily understood.
The hole in front of me
filled with blacktop
is its twin:
sometimes matter is allowed to pass
sometimes there is a wait.
